November 2009 - writing to you from Korea

A big HALLLOOOOO from five very tired blokes in Seoul, Korea. We feel like we've lived a lifetime in the last couple of weeks through Taiwan. Here's what we've been up to:

Suade takes on the world, comes second

If you haven't already heard us trumpeting about it on Facebook, Twitter or any of the other thousands of social networking services we use, we are absolutely pumped to announce that we came second in the Taiwanese TCMC A Cappella festival competition, against squads of vocal and beatboxing ninjas from countries as far-flung as America, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.

The standard at the contest was so high we thought we had no chance at all - so we were absolutely pumped to pull equal second place with America's SoundStage behind Germany's Tonalrausch and just ahead of Korea's Maytree, both fully professional groups, and both absolutely stunning.

This has given us the taste of blood - we've learned so much from watching the amazing talents of the other singers. Now we have a better sense of our own strengths and weaknesses, and we can see the areas we need to work on before we hit our next international competition, hopefully next year!

WOOHOO! Look out, world!

RARB USA reviews Home Brew: 4 stars!

America's Recorded A Cappella Review Board is pretty much THE vocal music review panel in the USA, their reviewers pump out ratings for the vast majority of vocal music releases in the States and around the world. So we were delighted to get their feedback on the Home Brew CD as we checked into our hotel in Taichung, in the midlands of Taiwan.

While the comments were mixed and we certainly have clear areas to improve on for next time, we were rapt that the final score came out at 4 stars out of 5, with some really kind words. We're particularly stoked that the RARB team seemed to really get what we were trying to do with the album, and they enjoyed the original songs. Awesome!

Check out some quotes over at the website.

Taiwan tour report

Long story short, we fell head over heels in love with Taiwan in the week and a half we spent there. It was a magical trip filled with awesome people, hilarious random experiences and epic, epic partying. We'll never forget it.

Long story medium, you can check out the tour report I've put up over at the website. It's got a bunch of photos and a very brief roundup of some of the shenanigans we got up to.

If you want the full story, you'll have to pry it out of us individually. But be aware - some of what went on tour is gonna have to stay on tour! ;)

We're now in Korea, more about Korea later!

Welcome us home @ The Chapel, Nov 8!

How often do you get to join a four-star, world #2 vocal band for a huge end-of-tour party? Not often, I bet. Well, lucky you! Next Sunday is your chance!

We're going to wrap this tour up with a bunch of TV and shows in Korea, then head home to celebrate our success and the start of what we believe will be a regular international schedule for Suade.

How better to put a full stop on such a great tour than to return to our favourite Melbourne venue for a huge show? This will probably be our last public show of 2009, so come down and party with us!
