A bit about the current lineup of this fine group:

Chris Blain - Wailing Tenor
Chris "The Colonel" Blain has been writing, arranging, performing, engineering, producing and managing Suade since pretty much the day it started. Inspired by the early nineties US R&B explosion (Boyz II Men, Az Yet, etc), as well as his touring experiences with the ABCI, Vocal Consort and music theatre projects, Chris formed Suade to bring the smooth sounds of vocal harmony to the Australian masses. He is a stubborn but resourceful kind of chap, and likes working things out for himself.
When he's not singing with Suade, he's running Vocal Australia, an organisation devoted to growing and supporting the a cappella scene in Australia - and singing in wedding and cover bands.
If you want a bit of what the Colonel's got cookin', you can get in touch with him to arrange private singing lessons.

Loz Blain - Big Meaty Baritone & Beatbox
Loz has acted as producer for all Suade's CDs and songs. He also designs the CD cover art, logos and posters, takes photos, makes videos, builds the websites, and writes all the group's promotional materials. With his brother, Loz has been responsible for most of the originals the group has written. Clearly he's either a very clever chap, or a control freak. Either way, you'll agree he is devastatingly handsome.
When he's not singing with Suade, Loz writes and produces video for Gizmag's Emerging Technology website, reviews motorcycles for the Weekly Review, and works as a freelance cameraman, producer and editor for various TV projects.

Sava Djukic - Boomy Bass
Sava joined Suade in January 2011, to be the group’s bodyguard, but it turned out we needed a bass singer as well, so he fitted in nicely.
Sava completed a Bachelor of Music and Dip. Ed. at ACU, where he dabbled in Classical Voice and Conducting. Whilst studying, he sang with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir, Melbourne Chorale, Chime Choir and the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Choir. So, a bit of a choir junkie.
He's just back from a few years in UnZud, where he picked up a slight kiwi accent as well as a taste for Rugby. Apart from singing the occasional right note in Suade, Sava plays the cello, double bass, guitar, electric bass, and piano accordion. He also plays ukulele, which looks pretty funny given that he's nearly 6 foot 5.
When he's not singing, Sava teaches schoolkids around Melbourne. A truly scary thought.

Rob Latham - Mister Versatile Barry/Tenor/Countertenor
Rob joined Suade in 2008, after catching Loz's ear across a crowded stage at Paul McDermott's Comedy Festival Great Debate. Something about the way he sang "whales are really just juicy cows."
Trained as a classical baritone, Rob has a Bachelor of Music from the Melba Conservatorium of Music. He also sings with the Victorian Opera Chorus and recently with Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria as principal, and has presented the New & Approved music show on SYN 90.7FM in Melbourne.
Rob would have thought of himself as a baritone, but we tend to use him as a tenor and occasional countertenor - so he's rediscovering falsetto and rock tenor tones he forgot he had, back from his late high school rock band days.

Luke "Bieber" Stevenson - Girly Countertenor
Beebs is a Suade newbie, and also the youngest in the group by a good margin, which is fun because it means in his short time with Suade he's already racked up a number of firsts.
As the countertenor of the group, he's responsible for all the girly parts - with a range that goes all the way up to a soprano A. It's quite scary to listen to. Naomi Crellin of the Idea of North calls Luke a "pitch nazi" due to his perfect pitch, so we've put him in charge of tuning.
Outside Suade, he's currently in the middle of a Bachelor of Music at Melbourne Uni, focusing on composition - but he's already making his mark as a composer, arranger violinist and conductor around Melbourne. He conducts small choir Bacchanae, sings with jazz vocal group Blue Notion and spends much of the rest of his time refusing to eat things that would give his scrawny body the nutrients it needs to survive.
